Shadwell Basin Outdoor Activity Centre marked the 10th anniversary of their Adventure for All inclusion programme with a festival that promoted inclusivity for individuals of all abilities. This year’s festival attracted young people from across the borough, who came together for a day of outdoor fun, teamwork and celebration.
Active Thames has supported Shadwell Basin Outdoor Activity Centre with Active Thames grants funding several projects, including training for new and existing coaches and new equipment.
Activities that took place during the festival were wheelchair-accessible watersports and adaptive rock climbing on their inclusive wall. Everyone joined in on the rafted canoes and bellboating, with trained and supportive staff on hand to help and cheer them on. The air was filled with laughter and encouragement, showcasing that adventure knows no limits!
The festival empowered participants to embrace their unique strengths and boost their self esteem. The atmosphere was filled with motivation and support, encouraging growth, resilience and confidence among everyone involved.
Young people also shared their experiences over delicious food and drinks. The event fostered connections and celebrated diverse abilities in a joyful environment. The dancing, laughter, and shared stories turned the festival into a vibrant celebration of community and togetherness.
